Snow and Ice Removal Notice

In accordance with Article VII – Snow and Ice Removal of City of Lake Mills Code:

The owner, occupant or person in charge of each property located within the City shall, as soon as practicable, and within 24 hours after the cessation of any storm depositing snow on the sidewalk abutting the property, clear the snow from the entire width of the sidewalk.

When ice has formed upon any such sidewalk through melting and refreezing or for any other reason, the owner, occupant, or person in charge of each property abutting such sidewalk shall keep the same sprinkled with ashes, sawdust, sand or salt in such a way as to prevent the sidewalk from being slippery or creating a hazard.

If the sidewalks are not kept clear of snow, or if any ice forming on the sidewalks is not treated to minimize slip hazards, the City may treat the ice or clear the snow from the sidewalk and the property owner may be charged for the costs associated with such work performed by the City.

If the property owner fails to pay or cause to be paid such charges, the charges shall be placed on the tax roll pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 66.0627.
